Where is it cheapest to purchase optometry equipment that is not second hand? Thinking of getting Keeler but not too sure, what is the difference between Keeler and Heine? Which pen torch is the best to buy that lasts long? What is the difference between the 'professional' Keeler kit and the 'specialist' Keeler kit? Is it cheaper to buy the equipment from the Keeler factory?

My brother (an optom) uses Keelers. I'd say just buy a fresh new kit from Keelers, as they come with warranty and it's more of an investment. It'll last you a career if you keep it. A few grand will be a minute amount in the span of a career.

my uni makes us buy the equipment in 2nd year. I know other unis do things differently. Which uni did your brother go to if you don't mind me asking?

I have two Keeler Professional/Retinoscope sets that are brand new. Keeler currently want £1500 for the set including VAT, you can have mine for £750.
Only missing the charger but the Uni have them anyway.
