OK, i have just found a closed thread full of 'useful' opinions on oral hygiene and safe sex, and I'm frankly appalled at how far out some people were. So here's some clarification for you.
- You can get certain STDs by performing oral sex on a person.
- Some STDs that are present as sores or lesions on the skin, like herpes, HPV, and syphilis, may be transmitted to you by having oral contact with the infected areas. Other STDs that are transmitted by fluids or infected mucous membranes in the penis, like gonorrhea, hepatitis B, and syphilis, can also infect you orally (ejaculation in the mouth probably has little to do with it).
- Have you ever heard of those barmy creations 'dental dams' if you could catch stuff through oral sex then there would be no need for them...
- Despite what any guy tells you, they STILL can feel through the condom. The proof of the pudding is simple. simply say - its condom or nothing and 99.9% will put on a condom, and will certainly not be complaining during the act
- 'Open sores/cuts in mouth' VERY misleading. we all have abrasions and cuts in our mouths pretty much all the time. we get them when we eat (think crisps for instance) when we brush our teeth. when we scrape our teeth on our lip/cheek. Hell, why don't you disbelievers try looking in the mirror and tightly pulling your bottom lip down. you'll see just how many - and how close to the surface - blood vessels there are!
The moral of my message?
You CAN catch stuff - EVEN from those who seem 'clean'. If you're with a partner you don't know, don't trust, or don't know the background of, then use precautions. Got any questions? Ask them here!
