Business and Languages Personal Statement

I gained an interest in travel during holidays abroad as child. This interest progressed to secondary school where I began to study languages. I received an award from my school for my performance in GCSE French and I am now studying A Level French and Spanish, recently I also attended Italian evening classes to extend what I am learning in school, in which I gained an A at GCSE level. I have taken part in various school trips abroad, including Barcelona and Brussels, as well as in the UK, in order to support my studies. I assist in Year 7 French lessons at school, teaching groups of children with special needs

At university, I would like to continue my language studies as part of a more business-orientated course. I am especially keen to spend time in France/Spain as part of my degree, it would greatly improve my language skills, I love to travel and eventually, I aim to work abroad. A course incorporating work experience would help me to obtain the skills needed in business. I feel that my knowledge of Mathematics would prove useful on such a course, as will my enthusiasm

I have worked at Nottingham Tennis Centre for 2 years, my duties there include handling money and working with the public. The centre hosts many international tournaments, so I often have the opportunity to use my language skills. I work confidently, both independently and as part of a team. I have also learned how to manage my time effectively, as well as working under pressure. I helped at tennis tournaments as a ball girl for 3 years in which I was a team leader

I have found sixth form to be sometimes challenging, yet rewarding as I enjoy learning and have a genuine interest in what I study. At school, I like giving presentations and make a good leader when working in a group. I am an active member of my school, taking part in a Shakespeare production and volunteering to supervise lower school pupils for example

In my free time, I swim and play tennis and I am interested in a variety of music.
