If you tried it I might have to the Predictions Disciplinary Body (cindy)

And you can be thrown out of the Football Prediction League (FPL), docked 10 points....
cindy
Section 19, Sub section 4, paragraph 8.2 of the Prediction Rules Policy states - Predictors may in cases predict alike matches and have the same opinion of said matches. Predictors may also copy the predictions of another predictor should they wish to extend their lead in the Predictions Table.

I request the whole rule book be made available to download for every participant.

I saw Makavelli_07 go into the ref's dressing room! :p:

The FPLA are in a board meeting, as I type and are investigating any allegations of misconduct by Makevelli_07 and will publish its findings in due course.

The FPLA (Association) reserves the right to be able to change/adjust rules where necessary(sp) and therefore it would not be prudent at this time to publish a full and current list of rules.

Nice one (everyone)!

I see that The Colonel, confused and nathe are in the relegation zone.
I'm gonna push for a Champions League spot I think.
Can someone please explain how points are scored.
Despite being 3rd in the league, I really don't know how the points are scored, as well as what part the percentage plays in all of this.

Eg.
jump 52 36 88 69.2
AFI 45 39 84 86.7

How am I below? This leads me to believe that points are also scored for a loss, or something like that - which is totally crazy!

i've actually corrected it a bit now, and the page is slightly different. eg you endeavour have moved up one place. i couldnt see any reason why illuvatar was ahead of The Colonel, considering the colonel had the same points, but a higher number of wins and a better percentage. same for a couple of others in the list, so i've rejigged it a touch. the way ive implemented it on the info available is to order first by POINTS, then if equal order by WON, then if equal by PERCENTAGE.

im a bit sceptical of the 2pts for a win, 1pt for a loss scenario. it biases it towards those who play the most, rather than those who are correct the most.

HERE is the page showing the standard scoring by cindy

HERE is the page showing 2pts for a win, BUT 0pts for a loss. (i personally prefer this method, as i think its fairer and rewards those who are most accurate)

It will be interesting to see how we finish and what the divisions finish as at the end of the season so then who comes first in here will be like first in the Premiership, so currently TheWolf is Chelsea etc.

It can encourage activity because you always gain points by playing. Also there are leagues in the world where draws are not possible and so the loser gets one point and the winner with two, as I said before, this happens in Brazil. We can always have another column for a raw score for amoutn of games predicted correct.

potentially means someone who plays quite regularly, wins most of their games, has a great percentage but still comes 2nd to someone who just made sure they played every game, but got a lower number of wins and percentage.

i think its better to judge it firstly on wins and accuracy rather than just how much you play.

I do agree with you in principal, however the way we started to score does go by how many games you have taken part in. This was to encourage folks to predict on a more regular basis. As you can see not everyone makes it to all predictions.
The points system also reflect this. 2 for a win and 1 for a loss.
The percentage thing was added in after a request, from topdude I think.
Personally I like the two tier system of points and feel it should be leaders should be ordered from this.

Maybe we should put it to the vote and ask everyone what they think. It has worked so far, though we do need it set in stone before the next season.

Begin discussion.

edit: nice web page by the way.

I agree, not that I'm biased or anything though.

We need a poll, dont we??!!

*runs off to make new thread
Do we need to change the layout of the Predictors Table?

Some people have made some thought provoking suggestions and I would like to hear more as we need to clarify the way the table is run for next season.

Poll to come.
1. Do we have two tier points system? 2pts for a win and 1 pont for a loss. This system does allow for those who play regular but may score lower to still get a higher score.

2. Should the table leaders be on % correct or points?

Any other thoughts, please suggest away.
Poll will be very basic, so feel free to add your comments and then I will make a list of suggestions after.( Probably on Sunday)

Id say percentage correct cos then it doesn't matter if you miss some games. Not that it matters cos I seem to suck

Sorry, but I think that is the worst way we could do it, because people will delibaretely only predict 'easy to predict games', e.g. Man Utd vs West Brom and won't participate in games such as Charlton vs Tottenham where it is less easy to anticipate a result.
