Can't add hyperlink to selected text

When creating a post with hyperlinks, on showthread2 (and older versions before it) I would write out the text, go back and highlight the part where I want the link to be, and click the 'insert a link' button in the text editor. The end result would look like this.

When I try to do the same in React, clicking the URL box of the insert a link button causes the highlighted text to no longer be selected, and so the link just gets pasted in front of it.

I’ve just used your method and it’s honestly really useful and much more practical.

I honestly assumed that was how most people did it! I don't think I've ever used the 'text to display' box before React was launched.
