I went to Keele and studied pure physics, and I hated it. Huge cohorts mean the lecturers probably won't even recognise you, let alone learn your name. The quality of the teaching was bad. Living on the campus was like a wrecking ball for my mental health, and you are forced to spend a huge amount on food because they only have one overpriced grocery store available there. Accommodation is poor quality and expensive too. It felt like being in an open-air prison. Then my next year living off campus was even worse (loads of crazy people harassing you almost every time you leave the house, dirty everywhere, bad nightlife; it's just a depressing, not nice place to live).
I switched to studying physics with philosophy at the University of Lincoln as a last-ditch effort to get a higher education, and now I'm doing great. I love it here so much, I could see myself moving here one day. The course is phenomenal, the teaching quality is excellent, and the cohorts are tiny, so all the lecturers learn your names, and I've been out drinking with some of them on multiple occasions. They have just started an astrophysics course, and I've heard really good things so far. I'm currently doing a module called 'physics of the universe', which covers astronomy, astrophysics, and cosmology, and as part of the module, we did a week-long expenses-paid trip to La Palma, which was insanely fun. It's great here.
I highly recommend not going to Keele.
